This is still a virgin island a lonely place to visit near Kolkata for 2 days. It is located near Bakkhali in the South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. The distance from Kolkata to Henry Island is only 130 km. Henry Island is named in the nineteenth century when a European discovered this land. The dense mangrove forest divided by numerous canals covered the area then. There is no one to disturb, apart from the red fiddler crabs that dot the shore. The deserted beach of Henry Island seems very nice and one of the unique tourist place near to Kolkata. The view from the Sundari Resort tower is excellent and refreshing.

40. Chandraketugarh

Chandraketugarh at Kolkata

It is a historical ruin of an ancient kingdom near Kolkata. It is located at Berachampa, in the 24th Parganas. The distance between Chandraketugarh and Kolkata is only 45 km. The historian says it was a famous and port city during 300 BC. In this place were found various crafts, terracotta objects, ceramics, and marketing activities. From 300 BC to 1250 AD, many famous dynasties ruled here such as Maurya, Shunga, Kushan, Gupta, etc. So, without a doubt, this archeological site is the best tourist places at Kolkata.
