Portals of Kedarnath Mandir Opened for Char Dham Yatra 2020

The portals of the Kedarnath Temple, one of four Char Dhams in Uttarakhand, opened amid chanting of Vedic mantras and pooja ceremony at 6:10 a.m. The first pooja in the temple, located in the Himalaya Garhwal, was performed on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Despite the fact that the temple portals have been opened, devotees were not allowed to enter the temple due to the Corona Virus. This will be the first time that there are no devotees present to celebrate the occasion, except between 15 and 16 people.

Pooja performed while observing the social distance

All rules and regulations related to social distancing were observed while performing pooja and other rituals within the Kedarnath Temple. To avoid the crowds inside the Kedarnath Temple, the temple authorities did not allow devotees to enter. With the opening of the temple portals, offerings of 10 quintals of marigold, rose and other flowers were made in the temple. Before the Kedarnath Temple portals opened, a company called Wood Stone cleared the way leading to the Temple of Glaciers and Ice.
